55 Arrested for DUI During 4th of July Weekend
The Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association today announced that during the 4th of July weekend period (from 12:00 PM on July 2, 2026 until 6:00 AM on July 6, 2026), law enforcement across Rhode Island arrested 55 individuals for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). These figures represent the combined efforts of all 38 municipal police departments and the Rhode Island State Police.
“I am proud of the men and women whose efforts helped led to 55 DUI arrests and, more importantly, contributed to a fatality-free Fourth of July weekend on Rhode Island's roadways,” said Colonel Michael Correia, President of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and Chief of Police in Barrington. “With many thousands of people traveling and celebrating across our state, this outcome demonstrates that visible enforcement encourages people to make safer choices. I thank every law enforcement agency in Rhode Island for their commitment to protecting our communities and removing impaired drivers from our roads.”
