"Not Now"
Chiefs Launch Distracted Driving Awareness Campaign
This week the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association launched a comprehensive advertising campaign in support of its “Not Now” initiative, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. The campaign uses television, radio, social media, and digital platforms to deliver a consistent message: when you're behind the wheel it is not the time for distractions. The campaign will highlight compelling statistics, real-life scenarios, and clear reminders that even a momentary distraction can have devastating consequences.
"We all deal with distractions: texts, notifications, phone calls, even things like food, pets, or conversations," said Chief Thomas F. Oates, III, Woonsocket Chief of Police and President of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association. "They’re part of everyday life. But the message of our ‘Not Now’ campaign is clear. When you're behind the wheel, nothing is more important than staying focused on the road. Whatever it is, deal with it later. Not now."
Informed by insights from local focus groups and survey data, at the core of the campaign are two :30 video spots featuring Rhode Island police and EMS personnel that will air on both streaming services and network television. These will be supported by radio ads, digital community screen placements, paid social media, and electronic billboards, all aimed at raising awareness and encouraging Rhode Islanders to keep their focus on the road.
