RIPCA and Audrey's urge drivers to "Make this your one for the road"
Customers to receive "Drive Sober" coffee sleeves as part of new impaired driving initiative
Today, the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association announced the launch of a new impaired driving initiative with the help of Audrey’s Coffee House & Lounge located at 60 S County Commons Way in South Kingstown, RI. Customers will receive coffee sleeves with the message “Make this your one for the road. Drive sober,” as well as a QR code directing people to more information about impaired driving including prevention efforts, the impacts of alcohol and cannabis, the legal and personal consequences of a DUI, and alternatives.
"Impaired driving is a significant safety issue in all of our communities and we are always seeking new ways to engage our community and remind them to drive sober," said Chief Thomas Oates III, President of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and Chief of the Woonsocket Police Department. "We are grateful to Audrey’s for partnering with us on the launch of this initiative, and we look forward to expanding it to coffee shops across the state. Impaired driving crashes kill and injure too many Rhode Islanders each year and we aim to remind everyone that these tragedies are entirely preventable."
"We’re excited to support a new initiative at Audrey’s Coffee House and Lounge in partnership with the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association," said Jared Haibon, owner of Audrey's Coffee House & Lounge. "They’ve designed coffee sleeves urging our community to drive sober and stay safe, which we will proudly be using with all our beverages. We greatly appreciate their dedication to promoting safety and are proud to help spread this important message."
"I want to thank Jared and the team at Audrey's here in South Kingstown for partnering with us on this initiative." said Chief Matthew C. Moynihan, Treasurer of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association and Chief of the South Kingstown Police Department. "Impaired driving continues to be a serious issue in our community and this creative approach provides a valuable opportunity to reach our residents with a crucial message. I encourage everyone to utilize the resources provided through the QR code and make informed decisions that prioritize the safety of yourself and others on the road."
