Rhode Island Police Chiefs Launch New Impaired Driving Ad Campaign

Ads Highlight the Consequences of Using Alcohol and Cannabis: "It All Adds Up"

The Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association has launched a new ad campaign to highlight the consequences of driving impaired. The ads remind viewers that combining alcohol and cannabis "adds up" to impairment and underscore that police officers from around the state are committed to identifying and arresting impaired drivers. Two :30 ads, "Officers" and "Night" will run on streaming services, social media, and electronic billboards.

"As we continue our statewide fight against impaired driving, we are proud to launch two new advertisements to reinforce this critical message," said Chief Thomas Oates III, Woonsocket Chief of Police and President of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association. "These ads serve as a powerful reminder that law enforcement across Rhode Island stands united in the effort to keep our roads safe. If you choose to drive impaired, we will be looking for you, we will pull you over, and you will be arrested. Make the right choice— plan ahead for a safe ride whenever alcohol or cannabis is part of your plans."

"Officers" features officers from municipal police departments around the state and highlights their commitment to identifying and apprehending impaired drivers.

"Night" takes a drive along Rhode Island roads and captures the energy of a night out. The mood quickly shifts as red and blue lights flash and an officer approaches the car window—bringing the reality of impaired driving consequences into focus.

These ads were made possible by funding from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation's Office on Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The ads are linked below.

Content from the ads will also be featured on the Association's social media accounts. All are encouraged to like and share our posts:
