YOUTH FORCE was a traffic safety and leadership program that was led The Rhode Island Police Chiefs' Association (RIPCA) and supported by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), Office On Highway Safety. YOUTH FORCE was a year round RI high school program & it began with an educational summer summit. Each high school that attended the summit created an action plan for the upcoming school year, focused around traffic safety.

The mission of YOUTH FORCE is to provide Rhode Island youth and their adult advisors with the motivation, information, skills and support necessary to organize events and activities that support Traffic Safety efforts within their communities. Safety campaigns targeting distracted  driving, impaired driving, and speeding, as well as, alcohol and drug free prevention strategies are examples of planned topic areas to be covered.

Over the course of the 3 and half day summit high school students from across Rhode Island learned components of traffic safety with a focus on substance abuse prevention strategies and safe decision making skills. Students will have the opportunity to develop their innate leadership skills to keep themselves, their schools and their communities safe and strong. School and community teams will create action plans to take back to their schools and communities to implement over the course of the school year.
