This position serves as the Operations Manager for the HOPE Initiative. The HOPE (Heroin – Opioid Prevention Effort) Initiative, a statewide program that engages law enforcement personnel in a proactive outreach strategy to combat the opioid overdose epidemic, seeks an Operations Manager to assist with overseeing the day-to-day activities of the program.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: works under the general direction of the Program Manager.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: civilian staff members assigned to the HOPE Initiative

 

Job duties

  • Assist with the supervision of the day-to-day activities of the program.

  • Oversee all civilian staff of the HOPE Initiative.

  • Manage the daily schedule of outreach efforts.

  • Oversee the assignment of law enforcement members to outreach efforts.

  • Manage the use of HOPE Initiative vehicles.

  • Work with the Program Manager to compile financial data, grant reporting and other information as directed.

  • Oversee all aspects of maintaining the operations of the HOPE Initiative office, including ordering supplies and coordinating IT support.

  • Coordinate law enforcement trainings as needed.

  • Attend and participate in meetings with key stakeholders, police departments and government officials on behalf of the HOPE Initiative.

  • Lead HOPE Initiative efforts in the absence of the Program Director.

 

Education and skills

The ideal candidate possesses sound judgment, strong leadership skills, excellent communications abilities, a “can-do” attitude and works well with a variety of individuals in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

  • B.A. or B.S. (required)

  • 10 or more years in law enforcement (required)

· Proficiency in Microsoft products and Office 365

  • Valid driver’s license (required)

  • Successful completion of comprehensive background investigation conducted by the Rhode Island State Police (required)

  • Experience with community policing (preferred)

 

Physical demands

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to drive a car and be in general good physical health. Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision.

 

Work environment

The Operations Manager will work in the HOPE Initiative office in East Providence, Rhode Island. In the normal course of business, the Operations Manager may be required to drive and transport others in HOPE Initiative-leased vehicles.
